IRCS, Assam State Branch Celebrates World Red Cross Day With Covid Awareness, Immunisation
The World Red Cross Red Crescent Day was celebrated all over the world on 8th May. This year the theme of the celebration was ‘Unstoppable’. The theme signifies and celebrates the determination and resilience of RCRC staff and volunteers despite Covid 19 and conveys a message of determination and unity in the world. The World Red Cross Red Crescent Day is observed annually to celebrate the principles of the Red Cross movement. It is the birth anniversary of Henry Dunant the founder of the International Committee of the Red Cross and the first recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize.
The Indian Red Cross Society, Assam State Branch did not organise any cultural programme this year in view of the Covid-19 crisis. The state branch and various district branches organised Covid awareness programmes, hygiene kit distribution programmes and immunisation camps all over the state.
The Red Cross is an international movement involving approximately 97 million volunteers, members and staff worldwide. It is one of the oldest and one of the most prestigious humanitarian organisations that have been working relentlessly to alleviate human suffering and to protect human life under all kinds of natural calamities or conflict situations like war etc.
